Established in 2024 as a joint initiative of the Diocese of Galway and the Diocese of Clonfert under the leadership of Bishop Michael Duignan, An Ghaill supports the evolving formation needs of ordained, lay, and religious ministry, as well as the broader requirements of lifelong religious education within the changing context of parish and diocesan life.
An Ghaill operates under the governance of a Board of Governors in accordance with its founding constitution.
Programmes, services, and supports are typically delivered on an outreach basis within local faith communities.
The Roman Catholic Dioceses of Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora, and Clonfert comprise 64 parishes, along with religious communities, chaplaincies, and associated organisations.
Across the dioceses, safeguarding structures work to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for children and vulnerable adults.
Post Details Part-time position (equivalent to three days per week).
Working hours: 9.305.30 (including a one-hour lunch break).
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support meetings or events.
Location: Diocesan Offices, Galway City.
Reports to the Bishop or his delegate.
Attendance at monthly organisational meetings and presentation of an annual report to the Board of Governors is required.
The role requires strong organisational, administrative, and communication skills, with the ability to manage varied responsibilities and engage effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Commitment to the Mission Statement and values of the Diocesan Curia, and willingness to enter a confidentiality agreement, are essential.

Purpose of the Role To provide the day-to-day administrative support necessary for the effective operation of An Ghaill, ensuring the smooth delivery of its programmes, services, and supports.
Duties Central point of contact for stakeholders regarding programmes, services, and supports.
Clerical support including drafting correspondence, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and distributing documents.
Database and records management in line with GDPR requirements.
Preparation and promotion of programme materials.
Programme administration including bookings, venue arrangements, registration, and facilitator coordination.
Maintaining communication networks with parish groups and committees.
Updating and maintaining the Centres website and social media platforms.
Financial administration including invoices, receipts, petty cash, and budget support.
Office and facilities management.
Support for publicity materials and pastoral resources.
Monitoring and evaluation support through reports and feedback summaries.
Assistance with fundraising activities.
Governance support for the Board of Governors.
General assistance to the Director, including diary management.
Flexibility to adapt duties in line with pastoral needs.
Person Specification Contemporary understanding of the Catholic Church, especially at parish level.
Relevant qualification or experience in education, formation, or training within a church or voluntary-sector context.
Proven administrative experience, ideally in a church, charity, or educational setting.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related IT systems.
Experience in event planning and coordination.
Key Attributes Competence in both spoken and written Irish will be considered beneficial.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
