Origin Valley Pet Nutrition are producers of premium air-dried pet food and treats. The business specializes in the manufacture of private label premium products for established UK & European brands and retailers. The business operates from a BRC approved facility in Rathcairn, Co. Meath.


Role Overview

The role will require providing financial support to the Managing Director and the Senior Leadership Team while meeting reporting requirements within deadlines. Responsibilities include management reports on financial performance, monthly financial reporting against budget, targets, and prior years, including Management Cost Reports, Manufacturing KPI Reporting, month-end closing, Inventory Reporting, Labour Cost, and commercial reporting.


Responsibilities

1. Performance Analysis: Conduct weekly/monthly performance analysis versus previous year and budget, with insightful commentary.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare and submit financial budgets and rolling forecasts, identifying and reporting on cost drivers and variables.
3. Fixed Assets Management: Manage fixed assets accounting, capital expenditure budgets, and ensure compliance with policies.
4. Inventory Support: Provide financial analysis to support optimal inventory levels and manage write-offs.
5. Ledger Maintenance: Maintain Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable ledgers.
6. Production Review: Daily review of production orders in SAP to ensure proper resource and material issuance.
7. Period End Close: Own the period-end closing process, ensuring all invoices and accruals are posted.
8. VAT Reporting: Prepare VAT reports from SAP.
9. Yield Variance Analysis: Understand and report on production department yield variances daily.
10. Ad-hoc Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc analyses related to business performance and generate insights.
11. Cost Monitoring: Partner with Operations Manager and leads to design, monitor, and control cost indicators through regular reviews.
12. R&D Spend Tracking: Capture all R&D related expenditures weekly.
13. Product/Process Costing: Ensure accurate reflection of yields, labour, and overhead standards, resolving discrepancies collaboratively.
14. KPI Management: Ensure the accuracy of financial KPIs.
15. Cost Analysis: Prepare trend analyses, deep dives, and monitor product line costs to support factory improvements.
16. Commercial Reporting: Monthly reporting and variance analysis against expected margins.


Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
2. Part-qualified or trainee accountant.
3. Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
4. Detail-oriented and capable of working independently and cross-functionally, with motivation and team collaboration skills.
5. Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG is preferred but not essential.
