Overview
A successful and long-established Irish manufacturing company is seeking to appoint a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function and drive profitable growth. This is a hands‑on role in a dynamic SME environment, suited to someone who combines strong commercial acumen with financial insight and the ability to manage customer relationships, projects, and a small commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
* Take ownership of the commercial performance of the business, including pricing strategy, margin analysis, and profitability across customer projects.
* Manage and interpret P&L performance on a project and departmental basis, identifying opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency.
* Work closely with the CEO on budgeting, forecasting, and commercial planning, ensuring financial goals align with strategic priorities.
* Lead contract negotiation, pricing discussions, and renewal processes with key customers.
* Oversee commercial elements of tenders, bids, and proposals, ensuring submissions are accurate, competitive, and aligned with company objectives.
* Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
* Manage and develop the internal commercial team, providing direction, support, and performance oversight.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations and Finance to ensure pricing, cost control, and service delivery are commercially sound.
* Support the CEO in the preparation of management reports and commercial insights for decision‑making.
Candidate Profile
* Degree‑qualified in business, finance, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in a commercial, finance, or account management role within a manufacturing or B2B environment.
* Strong understanding of financial reporting, P&L management, and forecasting.
* Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
* Hands‑on and adaptable, comfortable balancing strategic thinking with day‑to‑day execution.
* Confident team leader who can develop talent and promote accountability.
* Energetic, commercially minded, and eager to make an impact within a growing Irish SME.
