Senior Radiographer RIS/PACS - UPMC Aut Even

Overview
To work with the Radiology Services Manager in providing a quality radiology service to all patients attending UPMC Aut Even, in line with professional best practice and hospital guidelines, policies and procedures.
Core Competencies
Provide technical support for RIS/PACS systems, ensuring efficient image capture, storage, and retrieval.
Act as system administrator for RIS/PACS, including maintenance, upgrades, and user access.
Implement contingency plans for system downtime.
Liaise with IT and vendors for issue resolution.
Ensure compliance with Data Protection and GDPR requirements in all system operations.
Operational Responsibilities
Manage the daily examination schedule, balancing routine appointments with urgent in-patient and out-patient cases.
Ensure safe and efficient operation of diagnostic imaging equipment and associated ancillary devices.
Accept and justify routine diagnostic imaging referrals in accordance with established protocols.
Monitor and report equipment faults promptly and appropriately.
Oversee stock control, including ordering and maintaining adequate inventory levels.
Participate in on-call duties on a rotational basis.
Safety & Compliance
Take responsibility for all aspects of radiation safety within the department.
Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety procedures for the protection of patients, staff, and visitors.
Undertake Quality Assurance testing of imaging modalities in line with agreed QA policies.
Apply safe manual handling techniques when assisting patients and ensure correct use of trolleys and wheelchairs.
Observe and implement medical emergency and cardiac arrest protocols specific to Radiology services.
Maintain infection control standards, including cleaning of scanners, rooms, beds, and controlled areas as per policy.
Communication & Collaboration
Promote clear, consistent communication between Radiology and other hospital departments to support streamlined clinical processes.
Liaise regularly with the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) and Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) on safety and operational matters.
Communicate effectively with the Radiography Services Manager(s) regarding significant changes in referral patterns, workload, and waiting times.
Collaborate with radiography staff to achieve KPI targets and support departmental development initiatives.
Training & Development
Identify training requirements and arrange appropriate in-service training sessions in consultation with management and Clinical Specialist Radiographers.
Stay informed about hospital training programs and departmental developments to ensure compliance and best practice.
Maintain current knowledge of clinical, technical, and radiological advancements relevant to radiography practice, considering statutory and voluntary service changes.
Share updates on best practice with staff following attendance at study days or external training.
Provide training and supervision for healthcare assistants within the Radiology department.
General
Through the course of the working day or week there may be a requirement to work in other areas of the hospital in line with patient requirements as requested by your line manager/deputy or nurse management.
Staff must produce satisfactory documentary evidence of all training and experience claimed by them, if required to do so by the organisation.

Qualifications & Experience
BSc in Diagnostic Radiography.
CORU registration.
Minimum 6 years post-graduate clinical experience.
Postgraduate qualification in RIS/PACS management (preferable).
Experience
Experience in radiology IT systems and technical troubleshooting (essential).
AGFA RIS/PACS experience and training (desirable).

Ability to build and maintain relationships including the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to empathise with and treat patients, relatives and colleagues with dignity and respect.
Personal Competencies
Time Management Skills.
Ability to act quickly in urgent matters.
Excellent interpersonal and Communication Skills are essential since liaison with other disciplines is key to this post.
