Meath Ref: S11904 RecruitmentPlus on behalf of our client have an opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their successful and growing business in the sustainability sector. This role will work closely with a senior engineer and colleagues in electrical engineering to design new and improve existing systems, components and machinery for their product lines. You should also enjoy being involved with and at times getting hands-on with the build teams, testing and commissioning. Requirements: Hold a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Have 3 5 years relevant engineering experience. Experience in regulated or safety-critical industries is beneficial. Experience with FEA, CFD, or advanced simulation tools is advantageous. A strong proficiency in 3D CAD and engineering documentation. Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and mechanical systems. Experience supporting products through the full development lifecycle. Ability to interpret and apply engineering standards and codes. Have a strong attention to detail and quality, effective collaboration and good analytical and problem solving abilities. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and assemblies from concept to production. Create and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs. Perform mechanical calculations, stress analysis, thermal analysis, and tolerance stack-ups. Use CAD/CAE tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, CATIA, or similar. Support prototyping, testing, validation, and design verification activities. Identify design risks and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, electrical, and supply chain teams. Support supplier selection, technical reviews, and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA). Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and regulations (ISO, ASME, ASTM, etc.). Contribute to continuous improvement, cost reduction, and performance optimization initiatives. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation.
