Main Purpose Of The Role
Assist in the smooth running of the depot, primarily working on the telephone for inbound and outbound domestic calls, including telesales, customer care, credit control calls, and coordinating with reps and drivers to ensure excellent customer service. The Depot Assistant supports the Depot Supervisor in day‑to‑day depot activities.
Availability requirement: Weekday and Weekend Flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Safety
Complete daily depot checks using the systems provided.
Report near misses using the correct system.
Report any safety concern to your supervisor.
Ensure compliance with PPE requirements while in the yard.
Sales
Take payment at the depot for all yard sales.
Place domestic and bulk orders for customers over the phone and at the counter.
Promote sales of other products in the depot.
Promote Tesco Clubcard to fuel customers.
Promote HVO to customers over the phone.
Encourage customers to pay by credit card or COD for domestic delivery.
Customer Service
Be customer‑obsessed, always trying to exceed expectations.
Promote Certa as a brand to customers.
Ensure all customer queries are dealt with within an appropriate time frame.
Serve as first point of contact on the phones, handling calls efficiently.
Maintain good relations with existing customers.
Check customer pricing / balances while on the phone.
Set up new domestic customers with accurate and complete data.
Administration & Other
Assist supervisor in working with head office to ensure processing is closed off correctly and on time.
Carry out end‑of‑shift procedures, including cashing off yard sales and completing paperwork accurately.
Follow end‑of‑day procedures, including closing and locking up the yard while observing safety and security policies.
Complete ad hoc administrative duties to support depot operations.
Treat customers both external and internal with dignity and respect.

Personal Attributes / Experience Required
Previous experience in a customer‑focused role.
Experience in a telesales environment is advantageous.
Cash handling experience is advantageous.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
Resilient and capable of working well under pressure.
Committed, enthusiastic and energetic.
Strong relationship builder.
Highly motivated self‑starter.
