Overview
If you’re looking for a comfy, hands-off estimating role where you push a few numbers around and call it a day—this isn’t it.
This is a lead role. The kind where you don’t just estimate—you take full ownership of the bid. You run the numbers, you manage the process, and you represent us in client meetings that can make or break a deal.
Kirby Group isn’t a company where “good enough” cuts it. We build major power infrastructure across Ireland and Europe—substations, data centres, large-scale renewables. And when we go for a tender, we go in to win. That means world-class accuracy, full control of the estimation flow, and the commercial sense to know when to fight for margin and when to walk away.
You’ll be:
* Running the entire estimation process—yes, all of it.
* Coordinating drawings, documents, suppliers, subbies, spreadsheets, and sanity.
* Working closely with our Estimating Manager to standardise how we do things—no more reinventing the wheel for every bid.
* Mentoring other estimators who might be technically sharp, but lack your battle scars.
* Sitting at the commercial top table when the adjudication calls are made.
This role reports directly into the Group Estimating Manager and works closely with Engineering and Operations. That means you’ll need to speak fluent ‘Engineer’, ‘Builder’, and ‘CFO’—sometimes all in the same sentence.
Qualifications
* You’ve led complex electrical or T&D tenders before.
* You’re confident enough to back your numbers in front of a client.
* You don’t panic when drawings change at 5pm on deadline day.
* You know how to manage a team, a process, and a bid—all at once.
Benefits
* Real influence over high-value, high-impact projects.
* The chance to help shape how estimation is done at group level.
* A solid salary and benefits package.
* And if you’re good, the kind of career path that moves you well beyond spreadsheets.
Best case? You get a job worth getting out of bed for.
Not one for long-winded applications? Neither are we. If you’ve done this kind of work and want to be somewhere that values doing it properly—drop us a line.
