ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

This part-time contract will comprise 16-20 hours per week. It will coordinate the work of the Sisters of Bon Secours and the Bon Secours family in their efforts to promote justice, peace and care of creation. The work will be informed by the Charism of Compassion, Healing & Liberation, the Mission Focus of Women of Healing Defending and Caring for all of Creation and the Chapter Direction Statement to care for the environment, in ways that contribute to the greater ecological and spiritual well-being and sustainability of our mother earth. We will be caregivers of our common home, and we will live as peace makers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage and co-ordinate JPIC efforts and initiatives for the Sisters of Bon Secours in Ireland and Great Britain (SBSI & GB)

2. Involve SBSI & GB Sisters, Bon Secours Young Adults, staff and Associates in JPIC Community education, engagement and action.

3. Collaborate with Bon Secours groups across the Congregation who are working with JPIC related topics and represent SBSI & GB at the Congregational JPIC committee

4. Provide ecological spiritual readings and experiences to increase awareness and experience of ecological spirituality.

5. Research current JPIC issues and identify appropriate responses in terms of policy advocacy and awareness-raising.

6. Develop the annual Laudato Si' action plan in collaboration with the Area & International JPIC Teams.

7. Promote Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) in line with Catholic Social Teaching and the UN Sustainable Goals focusing on social and environmental justice,

8. Participate in the SBSI & GB Area Assembly to help develop clarity and connection to Justice, Peace & Care of Creation priorities.

9. Network nationally and represent the SBSI & GB Area in its collaboration with local, regional, and national organizations advocating for justice, peace, and integrity of creation.

10. Undertake travel and occasional out-of-hours work as required by the demands of the post and at the discretion of the SBSI & GB Area.

11. Administratively maintain a JPIC Office to include:

o Developing an Area Plan to include annual goals and objectives.

o Developing and managing an annual budget.

o Developing Area JPIC policies that reflect Congregation JPIC initiatives.

o Managing a JPIC Area Team which meets regularly to plan, organize and promote JPIC matters to Sisters & member of the Bon Secours Family

ACCOUNTABLE TO:

· Area Leader / Area Team (reports to and meets with on a regular basis)

· International Director of JPIC and JPIC International Committee Members

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/GIFTS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE

· Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Services, Justice Studies, Theology, or related field.

· Knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching

· Knowledge of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

· Experience working with justice, peace and care of creation issues.

· Experience with Congregations of Women Religious

· Openness to the spirit and charism of the Sisters of Bon Secours.

· Ability to work on own initiative with excellent organisational and time management skills.

· Good listening and people skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as IT and social media skills.
