Buyer Role
A buyer is responsible for managing the inventory of product categories, sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to ensure a cost-effective supply chain. The buyer will lead supplier negotiations and build long-term relationships with those suppliers.
The ideal candidate has proven experience as a Buyer in the Building Materials Industry or a similar role. They should have knowledge of construction materials, industry regulations, and market trends. Proficiency in using category management software tools is also essential. The buyer will work closely with the category and stock team unit, reporting to the Managing Director of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build long-term supplier relationships, improving the trading position in a sustainable way.
• Review existing supplier performance and new supplier proposals.
• Lead or support complex negotiations with key suppliers.
• Challenge the team continually to create a range of customer value versus competitors and ensure no product gaps while optimising sales and margin.
• Ensure price is competitive and profitable.
• Forecasting stocks based on sales and trends to allow business efficiency.
