Counsellor Therapist
We are seeking to appoint experienced Counsellors to provide counselling services to children on a sessional basis. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals who have a passion for supporting vulnerable young people and making a positive impact in their lives.
Counselling will be delivered as part of the Department of Education programme, which aims to support children's emotional wellbeing. As a Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing blocks of eight counselling sessions per referral.
Responsibilities
* Adhere to the Code of Ethics of your relevant accrediting body.
* Attend professional supervision while providing counselling as part of this programme.
* Ensure consent and referral form is complete and signed by parents.
* Gather information as appropriate during initial meetings.
* Issue a summary report summarising interventions and strategies.
* Interact with children and their families in a professional manner.
* Protect sensitive information about referred children at all times.
* Engage in quality assurance exercises and support evaluation processes as required.
Requirements
* Hold a recognised qualification at Level 7 (primary degree) or higher in a relevant human science discipline.
* Have full accredited membership with one of the following professional bodies:
o The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
o Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP)
o Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP)
o Irish Association of Psychotherapy and Play Therapy (IAPTP)
o Association of Child Art Psychotherapists (ACAP)
o One of the ten accrediting psychotherapy bodies within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP)
* Possess either two years of relevant supervised experience providing counselling to children, or hold a professional accredited qualification in child and adolescent counselling, or have one year of relevant supervised experience providing counselling to children.
* Complete the introduction to Children's First e-learning programme.
* Hold valid professional indemnity insurance.
* Operate as a limited company.
