Job Description:
Staff Grade Psychologist
Medforce Recruitment is seeking to recruit dynamic, compassionate, and dedicated Staff Grade Psychologists to join the Primary Care Child Services Team.
The selected candidates will play a key role in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions to children and their families across the Galway area as part of a Wait List Initiative aimed at reducing waiting times for children accessing psychological support in primary care.
Responsibilities:
* Provide psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions for children aged 0-18 within the primary care setting.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers.
* Deliver time-limited interventions, both individually and in groups, in line with the goals of the Wait List Initiative.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with HSE standards and professional guidelines.
* Participate in service planning, development, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Liaise with families, schools, and relevant agencies as appropriate to support children's psychological well-being.
* Contribute to the development of clinical pathways to address service delays and improve access to care.
* Engage in clinical supervision and continued professional development (CPD) activities.
Requirements:
* A university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
* An Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology.
* Or An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
* Relevant experience working with children and families, ideally in a primary care or child mental health setting.
This is a fixed-term position for 12 months, linked specifically to the Wait List Initiative. Posts may involve travel within the Galway area; a full driving license and access to transport is desirable.
