Role Purpose

The Retrofit Plumber is responsible for the installation, commissioning, and verification of heat pump systems within retrofit and new-build residential projects. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, efficient installations in line with manufacturer requirements, SEAI technical standards, and company procedures. The installer works closely with project managers, surveyors, electricians, and clients to ensure systems are installed safely, correctly, and to the required performance standards. Strong technical competence, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and compliance are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

* The role includes working on whole-house retrofit projects, often involving full heating system re-plumbs and re-pipes, ensuring existing systems are upgraded or replaced to SEAI standards.
* Install air source heat pump systems in accordance with design drawings, specifications and manufacturer instructions.
* Carry out pipework installation, insulation, pressure testing, flushing and system filling.
* Commission heat pump systems, including system balancing, control setup and performance verification.
* Complete all installation works in compliance with SEAI standards, Building Regulations, and health and safety requirements.
* Ensure all works meet SEAI Domestic Technical Standards and Specifications and internal Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
* Complete required documentation, including commissioning sheets, checklists & photographs
* Support SEAI technical inspections and audits, addressing any non-conformances promptly.
* Identify and report defects, risks, or deviations from specification to the Project Manager or Technical Manager.
* Comply with company health and safety policies and site-specific risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
* Use tools, equipment, and PPE correctly and report any hazards or near misses.
* Maintain a safe and tidy working environment at all times.
* Liaise professionally with homeowners, site supervisors, electricians, and other trades during installation works.
* Explain system operation to customers at handover, including controls, basic maintenance, and efficiency guidance.
* Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
* Work collaboratively with surveyors, designers, electricians, and office-based teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Provide feedback on installation issues, product performance, and process improvements.
* Participate in training, toolbox talks, and continuous professional development as required

Skills and Experience Required

* Strong technical background in heating systems, ideally with specific experience in heat pump technology
* Proven experience in project management within construction, retrofit, or mechanical services
* Knowledge of SEAI standards, Domestic Technical Standards and Specifications (DTSS), and other relevant compliance requirements
* Experience with controls and basic electrical knowledge
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with homeowners and clients
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
* Full driving licence

Desirable

* SEAI-accredited technical assessor qualification or equivalent experience
* F-Gas certification or background in refrigeration/heat pump installation
* Experience in retrofitting projects under SEAI One Stop Shop or Better Energy programmes

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: €52,500.00-€58,000.00 per year
