Electrical QAQC Walkdown EngineerContract – 6 months+Dun Laoghaire, DublinBiotech SiteJob PurposeThe Electrical QA/QC Walkdown Engineer is responsible for conducting systematic inspection and verification of electrical installations prior to commissioning and handover. The role ensures that all electrical systems are installed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, codes, standards, and quality requirements and that all outstanding items are identified, documented, and closed out before system energisation.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform system walkdowns of electrical installations including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, cable trays and ladders, power and control cabling, instrumentation wiring, lighting and small power systems.Verify installations against approved drawings, specifications, method statements and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).Identify deficiencies and generate punch list / snag list items.Classify punch items by priority and track closure with construction contractors.Ensure documentation is complete including inspection test records, cable test certificates, continuity and insulation resistance tests, earthing results and as-built drawings.Support Mechanical Completion (MC) and Ready For Commissioning (RFC) milestones.Prepare system turnover packages and verify completion of check sheets and inspection records.Ensure compliance with IEC / BS / IEEE standards, project quality plans and local regulations.Coordinate with construction supervisors, commissioning engineers, QA inspectors and client representatives.Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required and support resolution of quality issues.Typical Systems InspectedLV / MV switchgearDistribution boardsTransformersUPS systemsEmergency power systemsCable trays and containmentFire alarm wiringBMS cablingInstrument loopsLighting systemsEarthing and bondingRequired QualificationsThird level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalentOR Trade qualification with extensive QA/QC experience may also be consideredExperience5 years experience in electrical construction or commissioningExperience on large industrial projects such as data centres, pharmaceutical plants, power plants, oil & gas facilities or semiconductor plantsFamiliarity with mechanical completion and system turnover processesTechnical SkillsAbility to read electrical schematics and single line diagramsUnderstanding of cable schedules and installation drawingsKnowledge of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and QA documentationAwareness of electrical testing procedures (IR, continuity, loop testing)Familiarity with QA systems such as Procore, Aconex, BIM360 or similarSoft SkillsStrong attention to detailMethodical inspection approachClear technical reportingAbility to work under construction deadlinesEffective coordination with multidisciplinary teamsTypical DeliverablesWalkdown reportsPunch / snag listsQuality inspection reportsMechanical completion documentationSystem turnover packagesSnag tracking reportsOur client is a leading Electrical Contractor working on a large Biotech site in Dun Laoghaire.This is a Contract role for 6+ months with further work in the Dublin area.Send your CV into Michael at BSS michael@buildstaff.ie and contact 086 210 7555 if you require any further information on this position.BSSCAT1 46232BSS will process the data you have provided to help us find you suitable employment and offer you opportunities to help further your career.
