About The Role
At UnitedHealth Group and Optum, we aim to make healthcare work better for everyone. Our Ireland-based team is growing to support future healthcare needs, utilizing advanced technologies including AI, data science, and innovative development tools to enhance the healthcare system.
The Senior Security Engineer supports the Office of the Optum CISO within the Enterprise Information Security (EIS) program, focusing on cloud security, vulnerability management, and identity and access management. This role acts as a central contact for security process issues and questions.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with UK & Ireland businesses to ensure alignment with EIS policies and standards, establishing risk-prioritized cybersecurity processes and controls.
Implement security measures and configurations for cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments, with an understanding of secure cloud architecture for platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP.
Serve as a local contact for EIS policy and process issues, especially cloud and network security escalations.
Participate in major programs or initiatives to enhance enterprise security capabilities, such as acquired entity integration and vulnerability management.
Communicate risk management concepts and specific project risks to senior management, including mitigation strategies.
Maintain a deep understanding of the healthcare business, systems, and priorities.
Stay current on information security topics relevant to the healthcare industry.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience securing public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Practical knowledge of policy interpretation and application.
Subject matter expertise in security technology aspects.
