The Role We are hiring a Deputy Property editor to join our Property Team.
This role, reporting to the Property Editor, will be responsible for producing property content across print, digital and social platforms, accurately and to deadline, delivering high levels of reader and user engagement across the Irish Examiner, the definitive source for homes and commercial property news in Cork and Munster.
The successful candidate will be keen to take the lead in breaking news and report with authority on this important sector of business and reader interest across residential, commercial and development sectors.
They will be a highly ambitious and productive self-starter who relishes the opportunity to develop a wide range of contacts and accelerate our coverage with a range of digital first initiatives and other projects Key Responsibilities: Work as part of the property team, to ensure the delivery of property content to our audiences.
Ensure that property pages meet deadline and that content is accurately written with eye-catching headlines and excellent photography.
Write breaking stories for online and print publication where appropriate.
Maintain a timely release of material onto our digital platforms by communicating and liaising with colleagues and assist in ensuring that digital headlines are search engine friendly.
To build and maintain contacts with the senior leaders within the property, commercial and development sectors.
To represent the company in front-of-house activities, commercial gatherings, client meetings and to participate in TV, radio and any other ambassadorial function.
To commission material as required working within a budget.
Skills Experience Required Strong track record in journalism, preferably in the area of Property Excellent decision-making Ability to break exclusive stories Ability to meet digital and print deadlines while maintaining brand styles Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
