The role
Our client, a leading organisation within the Irish insurance market, is seeking a Trainee Actuary to join its growing actuarial function on a permanent basis. This full‑time hybrid role is based in , Dublin and offers strong exposure across a range of actuarial disciplines including reserving, Solvency II, IFRS 17, and analytics.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team, gain broad actuarial experience, and work towards full actuarial qualification with the support of a well‑established international insurance business.
Key responsibilities
Prepare quarterly best estimate reserve estimates using established actuarial techniques, with accompanying narrative reporting
Support Solvency II analysis including Technical Provisions, SCR calculations, ORSA, and QRT reporting to the Central Bank of Ireland
Assist the IFRS 17 reporting team and contribute to year‑end actuarial certification and audit engagement
Provide actuarial support across internal projects, including granular claims trend analysis and engagement with relevant stakeholders
Assist with upgrades to reserving software and contribute to the preparation of board and risk management reporting
Requirements
Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
2–5 years of experience in a non‑life actuarial role
Strong academic performance and a genuine interest in the non‑life insurance sector
Intermediate or advanced Excel skills; experience with VBA, R, or SQL is an advantage
Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a collaborative, can‑do approach
