IT Services provide essential services to the University community and play an ever more critical role in the strategic development of University College Cork. IT Services is responsible for leading Digital Services and Digital Transformation at University College Cork. The department manages one of the largest private networks in Ireland, 2 datacentres, over 7000 computer workstations, 300+ websites, research infrastructure and a customer base of more than 30,000 users. In addition, it provides and supports the University's business systems and Teaching and Learning technologies, along with a large portfolio of staff and student online services.
The role, reporting to the head of IT Operations or nominee, is seeking a technically skilled and proactive Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft identity, infrastructure, and federated authentication technologies. This role is critical in managing the University's identity lifecycle and ensuring secure, seamless access for staff and students to digital services across Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and federated identity platforms. The successful candidate will maintain and enhance the university identity provisioning system, which integrates with our Student Information System, our HR system and multiple downstream applications.
The existing identity repository architecture uses a SQL-based staging repository with a library of scripts and APIs to provide timely access to resources. The successful applicant will be the IT Services owner of the identity platform ensuring the system is operational on a daily basis, quickly troubleshooting and resolving issue, and enhancing and developing system to meet emerging needs.

Appointment may be made on the Admin II (6a) Salary Scale: €72,044 - €91,259 (Scale B) / €68,551 - €86,698 (Scale A).
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
