UPMC Aut Even Hospital are recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager II In-Patient Ward. The post of CNM II has a pivotal role in service planning, coordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical area. The CNM II will coordinate and lead in the implementation and provision of quality care.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Professional /Clinical
* Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence based, care planning approach
* Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership
* Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, delivery and review of service user care by all staff in designated area
* Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to service users within the guidelines laid out by NMBI (Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland)
* Participate in teams / meetings / committees as appropriate, communicating and working in co-operation with other team members
* Facilitate co-ordination, co-operation and liaison across healthcare teams
* Collaborate with service users, family, carers, and other staff in treatment / care
* Assess, Plan, Implement and evaluate nursing care by personal involvement and supervising the activities of other qualified nurses
* Ensure that care delivered by the team is based on standards formulated on evidence-based practice and hospital policy
* Regularly evaluate and monitor patient care using the hospital's quality systems
* Develop and promote good relationships with patients, families and carers and make the ward welcoming and homely
* Work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team promoting good teamwork and excellent patient care
* Evaluate and further develop the philosophy, objectives and goals of the department
* Ensure staff are familiar with the use and care of equipment and maintain equipment in good working condition
* Ensure strict confidentiality of patient/resident information
Managerial Responsibilities
* Provide supervision, coordination and deployment of nursing and support staff to ensure optimum delivery of care in the designated area
* Manage communication at ward and departmental level and facilitate team building
* Provide staff leadership and motivation conducive to good working relations and performance
* Manage resources efficiently and effectively
* Lead on practice development within the clinical area
* Lead and implement change
* Promote and develop nursing policies and procedures; monitor and lead proactive improvement
* Contribute to policies and procedures at area and hospital level
* Participate in the Nursing Management structure and support the Assistant Director of Clinical Services
* Lead on Theatres and deputise when required
* Maintain clinical and administrative records and reporting arrangements
On-call Rota
* Take part in the on-call manager’s rota
Staff Development and Education
* Ensure care delivered is based on patient needs and promote this within the ward team
* Ensure staff development and induction programs for clinical area
* Ensure each staff member has a personal development plan
* Promote an environment conducive to reflective practice
Clinical and Professional Leadership
* Promote Evidence Based Practice
* Support standards of care using research findings hospital-wide
* Promote quality and safety through the quality and patient safety programme
Clinical Governance
* Participate in innovation and change in patient care delivery and contribute to service planning
* Set professional standards and measure/audit care effectiveness
* Lead clinical governance principles including quality, risk and health & safety within own work area
* Record and report incidents as per policy
* Develop policies, procedures and guidelines to support best practice
Quality & Safety – Safe Culture
* Participate in planning, monitoring and improvement of quality programs
* Develop performance indicators with department manager
* Initiate and evaluate audits under guidance
Accreditation & Policy Familiarisation
Familiarise with clinical policies and participate in policy review under direction
Qualifications & Experience
* Be registered in the General Division of the live Register of Nurses with NMBI
* Have completed a Management Course or commit to undertake same
* Minimum 5 years qualified with previous experience in a Medical environment
* Previous management experience essential
* Experience in change management
* Continued professional development demonstrated
* HR policies and procedures awareness
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
* Active role in continuous improvement using lean tools
* Excellent communication skills with medical staff, MDT, patients and relatives
* Implement change with new nursing developments
* Work as part of multidisciplinary team
* Strong leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills
