Job Title: Senior Dev Ops Engineer
Location: Cork, Ireland ( Hybrid)
Role Overview:
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, securing, and operating AWS-based infrastructure that supports highly available, performant, and scalable systems. This role sits within the engineering team and partners closely with application engineers to improve reliability, performance, and operational maturity across the platform.
You will take a lead role in cloud security, database operations, and infrastructure optimization, applying best-in-class security standards and operational practices. This includes deep hands-on work with AWS services such as DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and related data and compute services. The role requires strong ownership, the ability to assess and reduce risk, and a proactive approach to improving system performance, observability, and resilience in production environments.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure
2. Lead cloud security best practices, including IAM, network security, encryption, and compliance controls
3. Own database operations and performance optimization for AWS services such as DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and related data stores
4. Partner closely with engineering teams to optimize system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
5. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure and application deployments
6. Implement and manage infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
7. Establish and improve monitoring, alerting, and observability for production systems
8. Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of operational processes
9. Review and influence architectural decisions with a focus on security, resiliency, and operational excellence
10. Mentor engineers on DevOps, security, and operational best practices
Qualifications & experiences required to be successful in this role:
11. 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles
12. Deep hands-on experience operating production systems on AWS
13. Strong expertise in cloud security, including IAM, VPC design, network security, and encryption
14. Strong experience with database operations and performance tuning, including DynamoDB and OpenSearch
15. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitLab
16. Experience with infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform)
17. Strong understanding of high-availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery patterns
18. Experience supporting microservices or distributed systems in production
19. Experience working in an Agile development environment
20. Strong written and verbal communication skills

21. Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO
22. Experience with performance testing and capacity planning
23. Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability tools in AWS-native or third-party stacks
