Overview
The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and reporting project costs to the Senior Leadership team.
The project Cost Controller provides the information that gives costvisibility to the Senior Management Team to enable them to make decisions that can allow the project to be delivered within budget.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain detailed project cost estimates and budgets completing iterative budget updates as needed.
Deliver Monthly cost reports to the Senior Management team and other stakeholders detailing Actual spending to date and forecast of Estimates to complete, all measured against the available project budget.
Work with stakeholders to identify cost-saving opportunities and make recommendations to project managers and stakeholders.
Monitor project expenditure and measure versus budgetary constraints.
Ensure that the impact of schedule issues is understood and incorporated into the cost forecast.
Work closely with finance teams to ensure that project expenditure is accurately tracked and recorded in accounting systems with a particular focus on accrual requirements.
Implement processes to manage change and incorporate it into forecast ensuring that they are properly documented and approved.
Review vendor and contractor invoices for accuracy and compliance with project contracts.
Analyse project actual costs to date versus budget and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, Construction Economics, and Quantity Surveying.
3-5 years of experience in project cost control, project accounting, or related field.
Excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge
Other analysis tools – Power BI, Tableau
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
