This role will be suited for both graduate and experienced electrical designers.
Position Summary
Electrical Designers work under the direction of the Electrical Design Team Leader and utilise independent judgment to perform the day‑to‑day project duties of designing, developing and releasing detailed electrical schematics, control panel assembly drawings, conduit models and the related bills‑of‑material. The Electrical Designer's responsibilities involve utilising Eplan, Inventor, AutoCAD software and Syteline materials management software to generate electrical design documentation for equipment manufactured for the pilot and commercial scale biopharmaceutical industry. This position requires a good understanding of electrical control circuit design for PLCs, process‑related instrumentation and motor controls, along with documentation requirements for pharmaceutical industry equipment.
Responsibilities

Design the installation and wiring of process instrumentation and control devices using documents such as I/O lists, P&IDs, customer specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
Design PLC and DCS control loops.
Design motor controls and variable frequency drive (VFD) circuits.
Design layout and wiring of PLC, DCS, VFD, and motor control panels.
Design layout and wiring of digital networks and connections.
Familiarity with engineering documentation systems.
Verify electrical installations.
Interfacing with engineers and other design disciplines to provide an integrated system design.
Generate assembly designs for power distribution panels, control panels, and remote I/O panels using schematics, customer specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
Create and maintain bill of materials in the ERP system for each assembly drawing.
Create conduit schedules based on schematics and system layout.
Conduct electrical design review meetings with the engineering team.
Interface with project management and project engineers throughout design, execution, and start‑up phases.
Provide assistance to manufacturing as required.
Support and assist customer field service requirements.
Execute other assigned tasks.
Ability to travel as required.

Qualifications

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
Experience with ERP software for item and bill‑of‑material creation (Syteline preferred).
Detail‑oriented with solid understanding of drafting standards and design fundamentals.
Strong attention to detail concerning specifications, codes, and regulatory standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Ability to work well independently and in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
Will actively identify and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.

Preferred Experience

Two years (or equivalent) of technical degree or certification in Computer‑Aided Design and Drafting.
PLC/DCS hardware experience, preferably with Rockwell, Siemens, and DeltaV.
At least two years of electrical design experience with industrial control systems.
At least two years of electrical design experience with process control loops, motor controls, and instrument connections.
Experience with ERP/SAP platforms is desired.
Ability to read and understand P&IDs.
Knowledge of Eplan P8 and ProPanel electrical basics.
AutoCAD Electrical basics.
Autodesk Inventor basics.
Electrical panel assembly and wiring.
Awareness and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) is a plus.
