As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Financial Controller - to join our group.
The Financial Controller is a critical leadership role responsible for the integrity of MBRYONICS' financial data and providing the strategic financial insight required to support global scaling and commercial decisions.
This individual will own the accounting, financial control, and crucial aspects of unit economics and debt structuring.
The focus of this role is to build and maintain a scalable financial infrastructure capable of supporting the company's transition to volume manufacturing and aggressive growth targets.
What you'll do
1. Financial Reporting & Cost Management
Ownership of the General Ledger (GL): Manage and maintain the chart of accounts, ensuring accuracy and integrity in line with IFRS/GAAP standards.
Month-End/Year-End Close: Lead and execute the accelerated monthly financial close process, producing timely and accurate management accounts and financial statements for executive review and statutory submission.
Audit & Compliance: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, ensuring timely delivery of documentation and driving readiness for all statutory and tax compliance requirements.
2. Financial Planning, Cost & Commercial Strategy
Unit Economics & Optimisation: Own, build, and track sophisticated unit economics models for all product lines.
Monitor and report on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) improvements as the Photon-1 facility scales up manufacturing volume.
Pricing & Margin Analysis: Provide robust financial analysis to support pricing decisions, ensuring pricing meets margin and profitability requirements.
Help validate pricing and market assumptions used in pitch decks and Business Development (BD) materials.
Multi-Orbit Costing: Develop and maintain multi-orbit cost models to support the strategic planning of satellite constellation projects.
Funding & Debt Facilities: Lead on establishing and structuring debt facilities and other non-dilutive funding sources to support capital expenditure and growth initiatives, ensuring optimal financing structures.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the financial planning & analysis (FP&A) activities, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario modeling.
3. Controls, Process, & Systems
Internal Controls: Design, document, and enforce internal financial controls and policies across all functions (Finance, Operations, Inventory) to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
System Implementation: Act as the finance lead for the ERP system implementation and migration, ensuring seamless data transition and functional integrity across all modules (GL, AP, AR, Inventory).
Transactional Oversight: Oversee and manage the efficiency and accuracy of transactional processes, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and fixed asset management.
4. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
Inventory Control: Establish robust policies and controls for inventory valuation, tracking, and reconciliation in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
Cost of Goods Sold (COGS): Partner with the Operations team to establish accurate standard costing, bill of materials (BOM), and direct labour tracking for all product lines.
Variance Analysis Support: Collaborate with FP&A to support the analysis of manufacturing variances (e.g., spending, usage, and efficiency) to drive cost reduction efforts.
5. Team Leadership & Development
Directly manage and mentor the junior accounting team (e.g., Accountant, AP/AR staff).
Drive continuous process improvement across the finance function using Lean/Six Sigma principles to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Who you are
Essential Skills & Experience
Qualification: Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a Financial Controller or senior management capacity.
Commercial Finance: Proven hands-on experience in financial modelling related to unit economics, pricing, and margin analysis within a manufacturing environment.
Systems: Demonstrable expertise in ERP system implementation (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and strong proficiency in advanced Excel modelling.
Compliance: Deep knowledge of Irish/EU tax, statutory reporting requirements, and internal controls development.
Desirable
Experience in structuring debt facilities or managing banking relationships.
Prior experience in a company scaling from R&D to commercial production.
Knowledge of the financial implications of AS****/ISO quality standards.
