Health and Safety Lead
Key Responsibilities:
* Implement awareness, engagement, and improvement initiatives throughout the organization to enhance Health, Safety, and Welfare.
* Stay up-to-date with relevant developments in Health and Safety, including Legislation, Guidelines, and Standards.
* Conduct regular safety audits and hazard inspections to ensure adherence to the safety policy.
* Provide senior management with recommendations on actions needed to reduce occupational risk levels.
* Maintain site and safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
* Develop programs to reduce accidents and promote prevention.
* Create an annual site safety initiative program.
* Ensure compliance with lifesaving rules and annual initiatives.
* Investigate accidents and collaborate with management to identify and execute corrective actions.
* Coordinate the safekeeping of statutory records of examinations with respective departments.
* Organize and deliver presentations, toolbox talks, and manage transport safety audits.
* Design, plan, conduct, and/or coordinate health and safety training programs.
* Maintain a continuous improvement induction program for contractors, employees, and visitors.
* Review and recommend revisions to the Health & Safety Policy/Safety Statements as necessary.
* Engage with external bodies (e.g. HSA) and within the group on health & safety matters.
* Promote health and safety engagement and consultation across the site.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:
* Degree-level qualification with a diploma or equivalent in Health and Safety.
* Minimum 5 years experience in a similar H&S management role, preferably within the construction materials, quarrying, or heavy industrial sector.
* Knowledge of industrial processes and systems.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong IT skills.
* Experience in ISO 45001 implementation and auditing.
* Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills to meet business objectives while maintaining a safe working environment.
