A little more about your role…
The Environmental Manager will support the Head of Environment to ensure that all environmental obligations for Dublin MetroLink are met throughout procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. The role provides strategic oversight, compliance assurance, and technical leadership, ensuring the project aligns with the rail order requirements, Irish legislation, TII environmental standards, and MetroLink’s sustainability objectives.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
A. Environmental Compliance & Regulatory Assurance

Lead compliance with all relevant Irish and EU environmental legislation (EIA, Habitats, Water, Noise, Waste, Air Quality, etc.).
Manage conditions arising from An Bord Pleanála’s Railway Order and associated environmental commitments.
Oversee the implementation of mitigation measures and monitoring programmes set out in MetroLink’s EIAR and Sustainability Plan, including climate adaptation, materials efficiency, and biodiversity net gain.
Act as Client representative in responding to environmental submissions from third parties, stakeholders, and regulators

B. Oversight of Contractors

Review and approve Contractor Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), method statements, permits, licences, risk assessments, and monitoring reports.
Ensure environmental requirements are embedded into all project contracts and procurement documents.

C. Environmental Monitoring & Performance Management

Oversee the environmental monitoring programme
Track performance indicators for noise, vibration, dust, water, ecology, waste, and carbon.
Lead audits, inspections, and surveillance of contractors, design partners, and site activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology, or related discipline.
Strong experience in environmental management on major infrastructure or transport programmes.
Strong understanding of Irish EIA/SEA legislation, Construction Environmental Management, and EU Directives.
Experience working client‑side or in a PMO environment on large multi‑disciplinary projects
Demonstrated ability to lead environmental compliance programmes on complex construction sites.
Experience with underground or rail projects.li>
Experience with major‑project governance frameworks (e.g., TII, NTA).
Competency in sustainability frameworks (ISO 14001, PAS 2080, circular economy, biodiversity management).
Knowledge of noise/vibration modelling, hydrology, or contaminated land.
Strategic thinking & environmental leadership
Regulatory and technical expertise
Contract and performance management
Ability to work within a multidisciplinary client team structure
