Job Summary
:
Reporting to the Toolroom Manager, the Toolroom Supervisor will lead a high performing team to deliver defined business goals and objectives and be responsible for the day-to-day management of toolroom activities within designated area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the assigned tooling team, including resource management, scheduling, and prioritizing duties.
2. Responsible for the professional development and performance management of the team, providing feedback as necessary.
3. Oversee the repair and maintenance of moulds, monitor tool performance, investigate issues, and perform root cause analysis of major tooling problems.
4. Compile and deliver reports based on critical tooling data.
5. Establish strong relationships with customers and suppliers for continuous improvement and business development.
6. Control and monitor the toolroom budget and expenditure.
7. Identify and implement tooling improvements for future and repeat moulds.
8. Report and escalate issues to the Toolroom Manager.
9. Assist in developing tooling documentation and maintenance procedures.
10. Collaborate with Production Group Leaders to troubleshoot mould issues.
11. Address customer-related issues in cooperation with the Quality Department.
12. Participate in internal meetings to establish priorities.
13. Liaise with external suppliers for tooling repairs and replacements.
14. Contribute to talent development within the team, including training initiatives.
15. Ensure all tooling intervention data is captured in CMMS.
16. Research and implement process and procedure improvements.
17. Work autonomously within established procedures.
18. Lead Lean Sigma projects.
19. Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and company policies and regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
* Toolmaking qualification with at least 8 years of experience, preferably with injection mould production.
* Minimum 5 years in a high-volume moulding environment, with experience in manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining multi-cavity injection moulds.
* Advanced tooling expertise through training and extensive on-the-job experience.
* Excellent machining skills and knowledge.
* Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
* Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Previous supervisory experience preferred.
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or management.
* Project management certification.
* Strong communication skills.
* Understanding of the injection moulding process and hot runner systems.
* Knowledge of CMMS, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics, and 3D modelling software like SolidWorks.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Travel Requirements:
* Up to 10% travel expected.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
* Light physical activity, including lifting up to 5kg and standing/walking for periods.
* Ability to reason logically, make decisions, work under pressure, and follow instructions.
Delegation of duties:
In the absence of the Toolroom Supervisor, duties will be delegated to the Toolroom Manager or designated team leads.
