About Your New Job as a Finance Officer
* Finance Duties:
o Handle day-to-day accounting and processing using the finance system.
o Manage accounts payable and record income and expenditure.
o Prepare bank account reconciliations and other key account reconciliations.
o Perform tax clearance checks and creditor reconciliations.
o Assist with payroll, Revenue returns, and preparation of management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
o Manage the Fixed Asset Register and support End of Year Accounting requirements.
o Assist with audits and keep policies and procedures up to date.
* Procurement Duties:
o Assist with procurement processes and documentation.
o Review procurement documentation and maintain the contract register.
* General Duties:
o Prepare financial reports and respond to queries.
o Undertake any other duties relevant to the grade.
What Skills You Need as a Finance Officer
* Essential Requirements:
o Accounting Technician or Recognised Accounting qualification, or part qualified accountant.
o Alternatively, a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
o Leaving Certificate.
o 2-3 years’ relevant experience in a finance role.
o Excellent interpersonal, management, planning, and organisation skills.
o Proficiency in Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Adobe.
o Strong written and oral communication skills.
o Excellent IT skills.
* Desirable:
o Knowledge of Thrive Accounting or similar accounting system.
o Knowledge of public procurement and contract management.
o Procurement training.
o Experience in the public sector or reporting to the public sector.
