Utility Computing (UC) – AWS Utility Computing provides product innovations, from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry.
As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IOT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key Job Responsibilities
On the Managed Fleets team, you will build innovative software that lets customers define the shape and size of their fleets and monitor the health and efficiency of how they are run.
You will be using technologies such as Java, Typescript, React and Python, as well as various native AWS services and Amazon-internal tools.
While you do not need to be an expert in all of these technologies, you must be excited to learn about them.
As an experienced engineer, you will develop high-quality software designs and solutions to our often complex problems.
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically once every six weeks.

A Day in the Life
A successful Software Development Engineer will have strong design and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a desire to be a key technical contributor.
You will be responsible for software with breadth in distributed systems, synchronous API orchestration, scalability, and availability.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
