Job Description
As a Fleet Technical and Compliance Manager, you will oversee the management of a wide range of activities related to the HGV fleet and associated ancillary equipment. This role involves close collaboration with colleagues in the Fleet and Operations departments, as well as with external suppliers, to identify and implement effective and efficient solutions that meet operational needs.
The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of experience managing a fleet of similar scale, holding a Transport Manager Licence, Driver CPC, and full C and CE licence for road-testing rigid and articulated vehicles. A recognised trade qualification in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance is also required.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing budgets and applying cost controls to achieve performance targets
* Engaging with 3 PL suppliers to ensure compliance, service delivery, and effective contract management
* Liaising with regulatory bodies on all compliance matters
* Prioritising safety and ensuring full compliance with health, safety, National and EU legislation, and company standards
Required Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
* A strong background in fleet management and transport operations
* Hands-on expertise in diagnosing and repairing key HGV systems
* Membership of a recognised professional body such as IRTE, IAEA, MSOE or CMILT
* Strong capability in budget management, data-driven decision-making, and the use of emerging fleet technologies
* Excellent interpersonal, coaching and communication skills
