Position Details

* Hours: Two clinical sessions per week
* Location: Remote; required to attend meetings at the College, 15 Hogan Place, Dublin 2, when needed.

About CME
The CME (Continuous Medical Education) Network aims to develop and support excellent patient care in Irish General Practice through the delivery of continuous medical education, promoting evidence‑based medicine, shared decision making, and GP personal development and reflection.
Job Purpose
The role of the Assistant Academic Director is to ensure that the topics covered at CME meetings are relevant, meet the aims of the CME Network, and that the material is of the highest possible standard. The assistant will monitor feedback from CME tutors and members to ensure CME tutor workshops and CME meetings meet the learning needs of participants.
Key Results Areas
* Ensure each tutor facilitates a minimum of three CME groups open to all GPs meeting the College PCS and living or working in the tutor’s catchment area.
* Provide a syllabus for all small groups in consultation with participants, the National Director, and other CME providers in the designated area.
* Ensure tutors prepare meetings based on evidence‑based material assessed at the national tutor workshop or self‑prepared material promoting shared decision making and GP personal development.
* Use assessment methods to evaluate the benefits of the programme to individual participants as part of the curriculum.
* Adhere to the College Sponsorship policy in dealings with sponsors and demonstrate compliance for CME small group meetings.
* Ensure CME Tutors adhere to all relevant policies and guidelines on the CME Tutor Network Scheme and the College, including participation in scheme visits, record maintenance, workshop attendance, report submission, and GDPR compliance.
Person Specification – Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
* Current member in good standing of the College.
* Enrolled on and in compliance with the Professional Competence Scheme.
* Current registration on the Specialist Register for General Practice, Irish Medical Council.
* Part‑time clinical appointment equivalent to a minimum of four sessions of clinical general practice per week.
* At least six years satisfactory experience in the practice of the medical profession post full registration, including not less than three years satisfactory experience in general practice in Ireland.
* Experience in postgraduate medical education, educational research, and audit; academic qualifications in Medical Education desirable.
* Experience and knowledge of appropriate educational theory in respect of Small Group Teaching and medical educational theory.
* Demonstrated leadership and innovation in previous roles.
* Self‑starter with high motivation and ability to work flexibly on own initiative.
