Operations Shift Manager - Reporting to: Head of Operations Shift Pattern: 2 days (7am7pm), 2 nights (7pm7am), 4 days off A leading medical devices manufacturer based in Waterford City is seeking an experienced Operations Shift Manager to join its high-performing operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining production schedules, leading shift teams, and ensuring that all operational, quality, and health & safety standards are consistently met. This is a key leadership role within a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate day-to-day activities of the shift operations team, including Quality Inspectors, Material Handlers and Injection Moulding Technicians, to meet production, quality, cost and safety targets. Drive continuous improvement and process reliability through the effective use of Lean tools. Build and develop a high-performing, flexible team through coaching, mentoring and performance management. Lead daily shift operations meetings, reviewing production data, machine status, escalations and corrective actions to ensure shift objectives are achieved. Maintain strong communication across the team using visual management systems and coordinate operator training across production cells. Ensure all team members are fully trained and support the development of standard work, documentation, training materials and work instructions. Plan people, materials and machine resources to support weekly production schedules. Oversee injection moulding, tooling and assembly changeovers, ensuring timely completion and adherence to line clearance and cGMP requirements. Ensure batches are manufactured within validated parameters and that quality samples are provided as required. Lead the 5S programme to maintain high standards of housekeeping, cGMP compliance and safety. Ensure adherence to equipment cleaning, preventative maintenance, calibration schedules, inventory control and barcoding systems. Ensure full compliance with company policies, Corporate EHS standards and cGMP requirements. Maintain accurate GMP documentation and ensure learnings from training events are applied. Carry out additional duties as required in line with business needs. Qualifications & Experience Level 7 or 8 HETAC qualification in Science or Engineering (desirable). Level 7 management or supervisory qualification (desirable). 35 years experience in injection moulding and/or automated assembly (essential). 5+ years supervisory or leadership experience (essential). Lean qualifications (Green Belt level) desirable. Experience in medical device injection moulding and assembly operations desirable.
