The sustaining engineer provides ongoing technical support, maintenance, and improvements for existing products after their initial release. They bridge the gap between design engineering and manufacturing, solving production issues, creating bug fixes, and enhancing reliability to extend product life cycles.
Position Summary
The Sustaining Engineer is responsible for managing the Product Lifecycle for Switchgear design. Switchgear is primarily an Engineered‑To‑Order (ETO) product, which means each customer order is specifically engineered for each customer. This generally leads to higher complexity and variation for departments supporting this product family. This position is ideal for individuals who are searching for a fast‑paced environment with a mix of product design and manufacturing support.
Responsibilities
Maintain Switchgear design within Oracle Product Lifecycle Management
Improve Design for Manufacturability (Safety, Quality, and Efficiency)
Provide design support for issues discovered during production
Provide design support for supply chain issues
Support New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI)
Ensure quality of ETO design before release to production
Qualifications
1‑3+ years of experience in product design
Bachelor’s degree in any relevant engineering field (Electrical Engineering preferred)
1‑3+ years of experience in 3D modeling / 2D drafting
Ability to create and troubleshoot control wiring diagrams
Experience in Design for Manufacturability
Excellent communications skills – written & verbal
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Physical & Environmental Demands
