With a new system in place and ambitious plans ahead, this is a unique opportunity to combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution — optimising processes, driving compliance, and unlocking the full potential of the Group payroll operations in Ireland.Location: Dublin 24 (with travel to the Northwest region 1–2 times per month)Package: Competitive salary + bonus, private healthcare, 23 days annual leaveOnsite ParkingHybrid 3 days in office after training periodGreat opportunity to drive change and work as part of the senior leadership teamCore responsibilities:Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor and develop a Payroll Team to ensure high performance, accuracy and ongoing professional growth.Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and collaboration.Provide clear objectives and support to ensure the team adapts successfully to new systems and processes.Payroll Operations & ComplianceOversee the end-to-end processing of payroll for over 2,000 employees across multiple locations.Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution in line with contractual, legal and Revenue obligations.Maintain full compliance with tax legislation, employment laws and Revenue (ROS) reportingLiaise with internal and external auditors, Revenue and other stakeholders as needed.Take ownership of the ongoing optimisation of the newly implemented Payroll System.Act as lead for payroll system enhancements and integration with other HR/Finance systems.Collaborate with the IT and HR teams to ensure system stability, data integrity and automation.Reporting & AnalyticsDevelop & deliver insightful payroll-related reports to HR, Finance and Senior Management.Leverage data to inform strategic decisions and identify cost-saving or efficiency opportunities.Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process ImprovementWork closely with HR, Finance, Operations and IT to streamline and optimise end-to-end processes affecting payroll.Lead & support cross-functional projects that enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.Identify risks and implement robust controls, safeguarding payroll accuracy and compliance.Person Specification & QualificationProven experience in managing a large-scale payroll operation in Ireland is essential.Deep knowledge of PAYE, payroll compliance and Revenue reporting requirements.Experience leading and developing high-performing team.Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret and present data.Excellent communication, stakeholder management and project leadership skills.IPASS Qualification (or equivalent) and proficient in Excel.Good understanding of Payroll input to management accounts.Understanding of accounting fundamentals.Experience working with 3rd-party payroll support providers.Background in change management or systems transformation projects.
