On behalf of our client in the public health sector, we are seeking a
Fire Prevention Officer
to join a busy Capital & Estates team.
This role is essential in ensuring fire safety compliance across healthcare facilities and safeguarding staff, patients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out inspections of buildings, fire safety systems, and escape routes
Develop and maintain fire safety procedures and evacuation plans
Deliver fire safety training and coordinate fire drills
Identify fire risks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation
Maintain detailed records of inspections, incidents, and drills
Provide expert advice on fire safety standards and regulations
Support risk assessments, audits, and safety improvement initiatives
Liaise with contractors, fire services, and internal stakeholders
RequirementsEssential
Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in:
Engineering
Fire Engineering
Architecture
Health & Safety
Building Services
Minimum
2 years' experience
in a similar fire safety role
OR
Level 6 qualification with
4 years' relevant experience
(public sector applicants)
Desirable Experience
Fire risk assessments
Delivering fire safety training
Preparing fire safety certificate applications
Experience in healthcare, construction, or facilities management
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation and building regulations
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office)
Teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills
