Waterford Intellectual Disability Association are currently recruiting for an Instructor to join their team in Day Services.Who We Are:WIDA is a community based voluntary provider of services for adults and children with an intellectual disability and/or autism in Waterford City and County.WIDA is registered charity, with a voluntary Board of Directors, and is fully funded by the Health Service Executive.Hours of Work:30 hours per weekWhat We Offer:Company PensionDeath-in-Service BenefitContinuous Professional DevelopmentEmployee Assistance ProgrammePaid Maternity/Paternity LeaveBike to Work Scheme23 days holidays (Pro Rata)Essential Requirements:Level 8 qualification in Teaching, Training and Development, Level 7 in Applied Social Studies/Social Care/Psychology or other relevant discipline2+ years experience of working with people with intellectual disabilitiesExperience in service planning and in sourcing activities for the servicesFull Clean Drivers LicenceApplicants must have the right to work in IrelandResponsibilities of the Position:Participate in the development and implementation of appropriate programmes suitable to the individual needs and abilities of services users.Provide supervision, instruction and guidance to services users and facilitate supervision in all programmes.Ensure the development, implementation, review and evaluation of programmes for services users, based on services users' needs and wishes.Identify, develop and participate in community based activities with service users.Identify and facilitate formal and informal training for service users.Ensuring appropriate material is ordered for programme delivery.When requested liaise with parents, advocates, and MDT as appropriateAttend and participate in client review meetings and other relevant meetings as requested.Liaise with outside agencies when requested.Promote and adopt a philosophy of care.Complete all relevant documentation and reports pertaining to service user's files including accident and incident reports.Compile requested reports for the MDT or other parties.Complete risk assessments.Assist service users with personal care as appropriate.Medication ManagementBe confident in dealing with behaviours that challenge.To familiarise, understand and follow all WIDA policies and procedures relevant to your role.Driving duties as requiredAny other duties assigned.Required Skills and Attributes:ConfidentialityAccountabilityRespect the dignity and privacy of service usersAbility to deal with behaviours that challengeExcellent Interpersonal and Communication SkillsAdvocateGood Team PlayerStrong planning and organisational skillsKnowledge of HIQA and New Directions Standards
