This position is based at our EIB Local office in Athens, Greece and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date 1st March 2026)
Eligibility: Applicants must be nationals of EU Member States or citizens of candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine). Candidates with overlapping Erasmus+ programmes will not be considered. Limit applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications; only first three applications considered.
Objective of the traineeship:
You will support the PJ Advisory Country Coordinator (PJACC) for Greece in developing a monitoring tool, based on a comparative, non‑evaluative overview of EIB advisory activities, that will facilitate EIB’s reporting across all sectors and types of advisory in Greece. You may also work on the development of a targeted monitoring tool for the management of the Project Advisory Support Service Agreements (PASSAs) in Greece, Romania and Bulgaria, with support from the Projects Directorate team members. Additionally, you will develop a library of case studies and articles on flagship advisory assignments in Greece to contribute to the objectives of the Advisory Strategic Orientations.
Responsibilities
* Acquire and maintain a reasonable level of knowledge on the PJ sectors beyond the own field of expertise, as needed to assist the country coordinator.
* Acquire and maintain a good knowledge of EIB lending and advisory products.
* Through insights into the country of assignment (Greece), help the PJACC to identify advisory needs.
* Develop case studies and articles on flagship advisory initiatives in Greece.
* Develop a monitoring tool that will provide a comparative, non‑evaluative overview of EIB advisory activities in Greece, covering:
o Projects and sectors supported.
o Advisory instruments used and comparative view of advisory intensity and gaps across sectors.
o Technical and financial progress of ongoing Advisory assignments.
o Identified gaps and future needs.
o Key statistics.
* You may also be required to support the supervisor in operational tasks related to the PJ Advisory Coordination.
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
* Final year of studies or University degree in economics, political science, engineering, spatial planning, urbanism, environmental sciences or related technical fields.
* Strong analytical skills as evidenced by: ease at analysing large datasets; a clear sense of measures and measurement units; intellectual curiosity to identify semantic and technical commonalities vs differences in concepts and definitions; drive and creativity in bridging the distance between ideal concepts and (limited) availability of real‑world data.
* A good command of MS Teams would be an advantage.
* Initiative to solve problems and tackle challenges proactively.
* Some past experience in managing a project would be an advantage.
* Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools, in particular Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
* Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of at least one other EU language would be an advantage.
