The Role We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Nursing to support the senior leadership team in the day-to-day management and clinical governance of an established nursing home in Carrick-on-Suir.
This role is ideal for a strong clinical leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care to older people.
Key Responsibilities Support the Director of Nursing in the clinical and operational management of the nursing home Assume responsibility for the service in the absence of the Director of Nursing Ensure compliance with the Health Act 2007, HIQA regulations, and National Quality Standards Promote and maintain a high standard of person-centred care that meets residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs Provide leadership, guidance, and clinical supervision to nursing and care teams Support safeguarding practices and ensure concerns are reported appropriately Promote dignity, privacy, respect, and quality of life for all residents Assist with staffing, rostering, and ensuring safe skill mix at all times Act as a clinical resource for staff and contribute to service and professional development Encourage a positive learning culture through open communication and team engagement Be flexible and available for day, night, and weekend shifts as required Education & Qualifications Third-level degree in Nursing Registered with An Bord Altranais (active PIN required)Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (or willingness to undertake training)Post-registration qualification in gerontology or dementia care is desirable Up-to-date training in infection control, medication management, manual handling, CPR, dementia care, and safeguarding (training can be provided)Skills & Experience Minimum 6 years' post-registration nursing experience At least 2 years' experience working in a nursing home setting Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role Proven ability to lead, motivate, and support multidisciplinary teams Strong clinical knowledge and a passion for high-quality elder care Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills What We're Looking For A supportive and approachable leader who leads by example Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills Ability to manage workload effectively in a fast-paced environment Commitment to continuous improvement, quality, and resident safety Experience in coaching, mentoring, and people management Health, Safety & Quality Promote a strong health, safety, and quality culture Ensure accurate documentation, incident reporting, and engagement in quality initiatives Maintain high standards of hygiene, professionalism, and use of PPE
