Ayrton Group are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor for a part-time position of 3 days per week at an educational facility in Carlow.
The H&S Advisor will support the facility with it's safety management systems, legal compliance obligations, and will act as the Competent Person as set out under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide professional advice, audits, risk assessments, and training services in line with statutory requirements and the facility Safety Statement.
* Assist in developing and reviewing safety management systems in line with the facility Safety Statement.
* Contribute to internal audits and compliance updates.
* Produce audit reports with findings, recommendations, and work plans.
* Assist with the review, maintenance, and development of health and safety documentation.
* Response procedures for health and safety incidents and emergencies.
* Support the facility Safety Coordinator.
* Monitor and manage the facility safety email inbox.
* Manage health and safety management software.
* Investigate incidents and manage follow-up actions.
* Track and follow up on accident and incident reports via health and safety software.
* Liaise directly with various departments regarding, risk assessments. departmental safety statements. safety advice and guidance.
* Participate in the facility Safety Committees and any other sub-committees that may require participation.
* Assist HR with specialist assessments, such as Ergonomic assessments, Pregnancy risk assessments, and any other staff-related safety assessments.
* Assist Student Services in managing Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEP) for students annually.
* Update and advise on Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans for disabled staff and students.
* Design and deliver both standard and bespoke training courses as required such as Fire Marshal, Manual Handling, Emergency Preparedness. and Crisis Management training.
Key Requirements:
* Occupational Health and Safety qualification or equivalent qualifications
* Memberships or accreditations with professional H&S institution required (IOSH etc.)
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in H&S consultancy, preferably within an educational facility environment.
* In-depth knowledge of H&S legislation, compliance requirements, and risk management practices.
* Proven experience with risk assessments, fire safety, occupational health, and emergency planning.
* Manual Handling Instructor training and Fire Marshal training.
* PSDP experience.
* Ability to work on own initiative and be innovative.
* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Full driver's license.
* You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
