This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form. A ladies boutique is looking for a sales assistant under the Work Placement Experience Programme. Training will include assisting customers, tidying shop and stock rooms, merchandising displays and windows, and processing deliveries. This is a training and work experience opportunity for a Retail Fashion Assistant. The successful candidate will be assisted by a supportive team, with a mentor to help develop new skills and gain experience in a busy environment. The role is 100% focused on training and development. No previous experience is required as full training will be provided.
What You Will Learn
Operational Support: assisting with stock deliveries, shop and window displays, merchandising, processing payments and recording sales.
Customer Engagement: greeting and assisting customers with queries.
Product Knowledge: familiarising with different brands, sizing conversions and best practice for product care.
Stock Room Maintenance: organising the stock room and shop floor, sorting, pricing and preparing stock for display and the website.
Administration: online sales processes, website administration, using WooCommerce to upload stock and process online sales, basic office admin with Excel.
Health & Safety: shadowing staff when retrieving or moving stock.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
