Pre-Operative Assessment Nurse
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pre-Operative Assessment Nurse to join our team. As an integral member of the healthcare team, you will work in a clinical setting, interacting with patients to provide exceptional care in pre-operative testing and assessment clinics.
This role involves conducting comprehensive pre-operative assessments, identifying and managing risks, providing patient education, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments: including medical history review, physical examinations, and necessary investigations to identify potential risks and optimize patient outcomes.
* Manage existing medical conditions: that may impact surgical outcomes by recognizing and escalating any potential risks to the appropriate consultant or consultant anaesthetist.
* Coordinate and facilitate pre-operative tests: such as blood work, ECGs, MRSA screening, and imaging to ensure timely and accurate results.
* Optimize patients for surgery: by ensuring they are fit and adequately prepared for their procedures.
Administrative Duties:
* Maintain accurate records: ensuring all pre-assessment documentation is completed and up-to-date.
* Review and communicate test results: properly to ensure patients receive timely and relevant information.
* Schedule follow-up assessments: to monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives: to enhance departmental performance and patient outcomes.
* Ensure adherence to policies and guidelines: to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.
