OverviewJoin Avenue in beautiful Sligo, Ireland! We are looking for a Metrology Engineer to perform First Article Inspections, capability studies and Measurement Systems Analysis on Injection Moulded plastic parts.Located in Sligo, Ireland, Avenue specializes in the design and manufacture of plastic injection moulds and injection moulding for leading medical device, diagnostic, and pharma OEMs. Avenue is a part of the Nolato Group which is a Swedish publicly listed group with operations in Europe, Asia and North America.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESServe as Technical Expert for metrology inspection. Oversee the quality aspects of metrology and provide support for the inspection strategy associated with all metrology equipment.Conducting detailed measurements of plastic and steel components per customer requirements using a variety of measuring equipment including CMM, Optical Comparator and Keyence vision system.Carry out dimensional inspections as required to support validation of new or changed tooling/parts.Perform, maintain, and control Calibration activities on site.Carry out statistical analysis of data and generate reports as required.Write and edit programs for CMM and Keyence vision system.Selection of inspection equipment and test methods for use on new and established parts.Development and documentation of inspection procedures and test methods.Development of inspection fixtures to ensure minimum measurement error during inspection.Perform Measurement System Analysis/Gauge R&R and process capability studiesLiaise with external auditors and customers as required.Assist with identifying and evaluating emerging metrology technologies and make recommendations for new technologies which will provide potential competitive advantage in the area of measurement.Provide operator training on the set up and operation of all metrology equipment and assist in technical guidance and fault diagnosis.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor Degree in Quality Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.Understanding of ISO13485/ISO9001 Quality Management System requirements.Proficient in reading/interpreting engineering drawings featuring Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to understand product inspection requirements.Familiar with the use of complex inspection equipment such as coordinate measuring machine, OGP, Keyence vision system, optical comparator etc. would be an advantage.Experience in CMM/OGP programming desirable but not essential as training will be provided.Strong working knowledge of SPC including statistical tools such as Minitab.Experience in conducting Measurement System Analysis and Gauge R&R studies.Excellent attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to communicate effectively.Computer proficient in MS Office.
