IT Systems Administrator
Connolly Motor Group | Office based in Galway, Ballina or Sligo
So, who are we? Connolly Motor Group is one of Ireland's leading automotive groups, representing world‑class brands. Behind the showroom floor and the satisfied customers is a lean, sharp IT team keeping everything humming and we're growing.
The Opportunity
We’re on the hunt for an IT Systems Administrator who genuinely loves what they do. Not someone who just logs tickets and waits for five o’clock – we want someone who sees a repetitive manual task and immediately thinks, "I could write a script for that.
You’ll work directly with the Group IT Manager, supporting staff across multiple sites with everything from day‑to‑day helpdesk queries to infrastructure administration and automation projects. No two days are the same, and that’s exactly the point.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
Owning the helpdesk triaging, resolving, and closing tickets in Freshservice with speed and precision. Users will know your name, and it won’t be because things are broken.
Automating the boring stuff – if you’re not reaching for PowerShell on a regular basis, we’ll be disappointed. Scripting, scheduling, automating this is a core part of the role, not a nice‑to‑have.
Keeping the network healthy by working with our Cisco Meraki routers, Aruba switches, and VLAN infrastructure to ensure everything stays fast, segmented, and secure.
Managing the Microsoft 365 stack (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra ID); you’ll know your way around the admin portals with your eyes half‑closed.
Onboarding and off‑boarding – provisioning new starters and cleanly decommissioning leavers, making sure nothing gets missed. Every. Single. Time.
Keeping endpoints secure by managing our endpoint security platform across the estate and staying ahead of threats before they become incidents.
Supporting communications – our IP PBX system powers voice across the group, and you’ll be comfortable administering it.
Mail and security – our email security gateway is in your toolkit; you’ll manage policies, review quarantine, and keep inboxes clean.
Supporting dealer systems – Keyloop DMS and other proprietary platforms are part of life here. You’ll learn them, support them, and not be fazed by them.
Remote support – you’ll use our remote support tooling to resolve issues quickly without needing to be on‑site for everything.
Time & Attendance – supporting our Workflow Cloud system and keeping it ticking along for HR and payroll.
Travelling between sites (Galway, Ballina, Sligo, and Letterkenny). A full, clean driving licence is essential.

What We’re Looking For
Attention to detail that borders on non‑negotiable. The kind of person who double‑checks their own work before anyone else has to.
A genuine passion for IT – not just as a job, but something you tinker with, read about, and actually enjoy.
Strong PowerShell skills (or the drive and ability to get there fast). Bonus points if you have scripts you’re proud of.
Solid networking fundamentals: routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP.
Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
Good communicator who can explain a technical issue to a non‑technical person without making them feel dumb.
Self‑motivated and comfortable figuring things out independently. We want a problem‑solver, not someone who waits to be told what to do.
Experience with or willingness to learn automotive dealer systems (Keyloop experience is a bonus but not required).
A relevant qualification in IT or equivalent hands‑on experience – we care more about what you can do than what’s on paper.
Full, clean driving licence.
