BIM LEAD
Hybrid - Dublin/Castlebar
NIRAS specialise in the design and delivery of process‑driven projects, providing engineering design, project management, and project resourcing services to pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries across Ireland and internationally. Due to an increasing project portfolio, NIRAS has a fantastic opportunity for a BIM Lead to join our growing BIM Department in Dublin.
Role
NIRAS seeks a skilled and experienced BIM Lead to join our team. The BIM Lead, reporting to the Projects Director, with the support of the BIM Team, will be responsible for managing the Building Information Modelling (BIM) process and ensuring the successful implementation and integration of BIM technology within our projects.
Ideal candidates will have 10‑15 years of process design and operations experience with at least 8‑10 years of experience held in a senior‑management level capacity and significant experience gained working in a process design / engineering consultancy environment. Experience working on life‑sciences or related projects in highly regulated pharmaceutical, medical devices, and food & beverage industries is preferred.
Duties
* Provide strategic leadership and oversight to BIM team, ensuring effective implementation of BIM processes across all projects.
* Lead development and execution of NIRAS BIM Strategy, guiding projects from proposal through delivery and handover.
* Interpret client requirements to ensure all proposals address BIM needs and standards.
* Develop and maintain BIM documentation, implementing workflows that comply with NIRAS and client BIM standards and processes.
* Ensure all BIM activities adhere to internal, client, and international standards (e.g., ISO 19650, PAS 1192 and NIRAS Standards).
* Create and manage project‑specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
* Monitor workflows and modelling techniques across projects to ensure alignment with BEPs.
* Collaborate with project teams to integrate BIM into project planning and execution.
* Coordinate BIM activities with Project Managers and BIM Coordinators, maintaining accuracy and integrity in project models.
* Deliver training and ongoing support to team members on BIM tools and processes.
* Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks on BIM models.
* Stay abreast of emerging BIM technologies and industry trends.
* Provide technical support, training, and troubleshooting for primary BIM software.
* Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
* Represent Ireland offices within the NIRAS Global Expertise Network for BIM.
* Identify and mitigate BIM‑related project risks, escalating issues to Project Management as needed to safeguard project delivery.
Requirements
* Location: Hybrid work with regular presence required in either Dublin / Castlebar office.
* A minimum of eight years’ experience in BIM management.
* Demonstrated success in leading BIM delivery within complex industry environments.
* Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities.
* Advanced proficiency in BIM software, including Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
* Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk ACC, Microsoft Excel, and Power BI.
* Proven experience in clash detection and coordination processes.
* Thorough understanding of BIM standards and protocols, such as ISO 19650 and PAS 1192.
* Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated aptitude for resolving coordination challenges.
* Solid knowledge of construction methodologies and project management principles.
* Outstanding leadership and time management skills, with a track record of delivering results under pressure and within tight timeframes.
