Role Overview: We are seeking a Test Automation Lead with deep hands-on expertise in Playwright and proven experience delivering quality engineering solutions within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or medical technology domain. This role is ideal for a senior QA professional who can lead automation strategy, drive best practices, and ensure regulatory-grade quality across complex, high-availability systems. The position is fully remote within Ireland, with occasional visits to the Cork site as needed.
Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end automation strategy, framework design, and implementation using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript preferred).
Own the test automation roadmap, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and CI/CD integration.
Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to define test coverage, acceptance criteria, and automation priorities.
Build and maintain robust automation suites for web applications, APIs, and data-driven workflows.
Ensure compliance with GxP, CSV, 21 CFR Part 11, and other pharma/health regulatory standards.
Mentor and guide QA engineers, promoting best practices in automation, quality engineering, and documentation.
Drive continuous improvement across testing processes, tooling, and quality metrics.
Participate in release planning, risk assessments, and quality gates for production deployments.
Support defect triage, root-cause analysis, and quality reporting.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of experience in Software Testing / Quality Engineering.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript).
Strong background in test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps-aligned QA practices.
Proven experience working in pharma, healthcare, medical devices, or life sciences environments.
Experience testing enterprise-grade web applications, APIs, microservices, and data workflows.
Strong knowledge of test design techniques, automation patterns, and quality metrics.
Experience with tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Docker, or similar.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with distributed teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience with API automation (REST/GraphQL) using tools like Postman, RestAssured, or Playwright API.
Exposure to performance testing tools (k6, JMeter).
Experience in cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP).
Knowledge of risk-based testing, validation protocols, and audit readiness.
Prior experience leading QA teams or mentoring junior engineers.
Candidate Requirements
Must be based in Ireland (role is fully remote within Ireland).
Eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship.
Strong stakeholder communication skills, especially with regulated industry clients.
Ability to join within 2–4 weeks preferred.
