Senior Polymer Development Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Polymer Development Engineer to develop innovative polymer components for medical devices. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of thin film polymer processing and be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing core technology components.
* Design and development of high-performance polymer components with precise specifications for functional and mechanical performance.
* Develop process workflows and manufacturing instructions for proprietary polymer components in our catheter device production line.
* Ensure the quality and reliability of the polymer processing environment.
* Effective communication with peers and management is crucial for a continuous feedback loop between device design, characterization, and manufacturing processes.
* Develop thorough testing methods and protocols for design verification of polymer components.
* Proactively identify and mitigate risks and challenges.
* Protect novel developments and findings through adequate intellectual property generation.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors for development and manufacturing services.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Primary degree or Master's degree in relevant engineering disciplines such as polymer, mechanical, biomaterials, or biomedical engineering.
* Expertise in medical device GMP and compliance to ISO 13485 standards.
* Statistical analysis techniques and DOE (Design of Experiments) experience.
* Equipment specification, design, and qualification skills.
* Proficiency in Solidworks or equivalent 3D CAD systems.
* Self-directed engineer with entrepreneurial drive and vision.
* Established network of relevant vendors for device development.
* Experience with creation and processing of thin polymer films, particularly biocompatible elastomers.
* Experience with creating thin film polymer 3D shapes.
* Experience with bonding of thin film polymer layers.
* Excellent English language communication skills.
