Naas Care of Aged Background: Naas Day Centre is a HSE nurse led day centre for older persons (over 65) which has been operating in the Naas and surrounding areas for the last forty years in the building provided by the voluntary Care of the Aged Committee. It is a successful collaboration between the HSE and the voluntary sector. People over the age of 65 come into a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of the community. Our aim is that the client should achieve their maximum potential socially, psychologically and physically. We want clients to maintain self-sufficiency in their own homes while receiving support from ourselves and the wider multidisciplinary team. Clients are treated as partners in their care.
Job Description
A Healthcare Assistant is required to join our existing team delivering care to elderly people at our day care centre. The Healthcare Assistant works as part of a multidisciplinary team to assist in the provision of healthcare for patients within a day care setting. The duties will include the following:
* Supporting the nursing staff and carer team in delivering quality person-centered care
* Enabling and assisting day care users with personal care
* Participating, organizing and carrying out social activities (e.g., bingo, art, singing, games, exercises, quizzes)
* Assisting in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the day care centre
* Maintaining confidentiality in relation to all health service matters
* Assisting with serving of food
* Washing up in kitchen, equipment and instruments as per protocols
* Complying with health and safety, infection control and risk management procedures; complying with statutory obligations
* Reporting any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of day care users, staff or visitors and taking appropriate action
* Completing additional training as required and participating in all mandatory training
* Any other duties deemed necessary by the nurse in charge
This position is suited to someone who has successfully completed their FETAC Level 5 qualification.
