A dynamic Head of Engineering position is now open with one of my clients located in South Dublin. The job is suited for a technically skilled leader who can improve building system performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and direct cross-functional teams to deliver safe, effective, and sustainable buildings. This role blends strategic foresight with practical engineering management, focusing on building high-performing teams, encouraging innovation, and offering reliable, scalable services. The ideal candidate will plan and implement engineering strategies, technical roadmaps, and procedures that support the company’s objectives.
Main responsibilities
Driving strategic improvements in service delivery and aligning engineering plans with company goals.
Leading major projects, ensuring timely completion and high standards.
Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and relevant policies.
Setting and tracking team performance goals, providing feedback.
Developing training for skill and talent growth.
Supporting team engagement, growth, and retention.
Meeting customer expectations through responsive technical support and innovative solutions.
Facilitating collaboration to achieve company targets.
Acting as an escalation point for complex issues.
Building strong client relationships through tailored support.
Optimising support processes and tools.
Promoting knowledge sharing within the business.
Driving ongoing improvement in customer experience.
Recruiting and retaining top talent and planning resources.
Streamlining department efficiency and monitoring KPIs.
Analysing data for improvements and reporting to management.
Leading strategies for client growth and retention.
Ensuring departmental compliance with ISO and quality standards.
Aligning support with company objectives by working cross-functionally.
Communicating industry trends and best practices to the team.
Updating strategies to maintain competitiveness.
Managing commercial and profitability aspects of the department.
Supporting growth initiatives and handling ad-hoc tasks.
Ideal candidate
Minimum 10 years’ experience in Technical and Facilities Management, including 7+ years in leadership roles.
A third-level qualification in engineering or a related technical field is essential.
At least 5 years managing commercial cost centres.
Strong communication and presentation skills to influence and build consensus across teams.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and broad technology knowledge required.
Proven leadership and team development experience, including managing remote or distributed teams.
Advanced technical expertise for strategy, system integration, and scalable solutions with engineering partners.
Demonstrated adaptability and success in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Highly motivated, thrives under pressure, with a flexible attitude and a strong focus on safety, service, and quality.
Ability to take initiative, prioritise tasks, and work independently to deliver timely, high-quality results.
Customer-focused approach with experience implementing systems based on feedback.
Analytical skills to develop practical plans and balance multiple priorities.
Experience delivering cost-effective solutions while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Full, clean driving licence required.
