Electrical Design Engineer – REF: 2526
Fingleton White provides multidiscipline engineering services for the energy industry across Ireland, England, and Northern Ireland with over 200 staff across 8 offices. We deliver design, construction and commissioning services in Renewables, Gas Networks, Water, Energy & Utilities, and Asset Management.
Our work includes zero‑carbon projects, carbon reduction initiatives, and energy efficiency upgrades. We prioritize engineering fundamentals, sustainability, and continuous professional development.
Location: Portlaoise office (Dublin applications considered).
Responsibilities
* Feasibility studies for power generation plants
* Preparation of electrical technical designs & submissions
* Power System Studies: load flow, short‑circuit, and protection coordination calculations
* Use of electrical software packages such as Dialux, Electrical OM, Trimble, ETAP, etc.
* Preparation of electrical schematics, installation details and drawings
* Generate specifications for switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and other HV & LV equipment
* Design of ancillary services: building distribution network, lighting, fire alarm, earthing, bonding, cabling, equipment schedules
* Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations
* Participate in all project phases, from engineering to procurement and construction
* Liaise with stakeholders to achieve project and company goals
Candidate Profile
* Engineering degree (Honours bachelor’s or higher) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* 2+ years post‑graduate experience
* Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Good academic record
* Full clean driving licence and own transport required
* Fluent written and spoken English
* Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently or in a team
