Job Description
GENERAL ROLE: A Healthcare Assistant provides personal care, support, and assistance to clients in various settings, including community care and private homes. The role is carried out under the supervision of a registered nurse and healthcare professional and focuses on promoting dignity, independence, and well‑being.
Key Responsibilities
* Personal healthcare – bring kindness, patience, and empathy, build a trusting relationship, assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and maintaining hygiene.
* Medication management – ensure medications are taken as prescribed and help organize and administer them.
* Meal preparation and nutrition – prepare meals and snacks that align with dietary requirements and promote proper nutrition.
* Mobility support – help with moving around the home, getting in and out of bed, or using mobility aids.
* Companionship – provide emotional support, conversation, and companionship to reduce feelings of isolation or loneliness.
* Household tasks – perform light housekeeping duties, cleaning, laundry, and organizing the living space.
* Health monitoring – observe and report any changes in the person’s physical or mental health to medical professionals or family members.
Compensation
Salary: €15.00 per hour (€31,200 per annum).
Key Requirements
* QQI Level 5 Care Certificate or equivalent.
* At least 1 year of experience.
* English language proficiency.
* Skills: flexibility & adaptability, resilience & emotional strength, practical care skills, communication skills, observation & attention to detail, empathy & compassion, teamwork & collaboration.
