Senior Principal Consultant | Semiconductor, Embedded Systems, AI, Robotics and Machine Learning
Physical Design Engineer
Lead physical implementation for next-gen high-speed SOCs and push PPA limits in advanced tech like 7nm and 5nm.
You'll get hands-on with floorplanning, power optimisation and timing closure, building your expertise on premium-tier designs that shape real-world products.
From netlist to GDS, you'll own the full physical design flow and develop new methodologies to boost performance, power and area efficiency.
Working alongside timing, power and verification teams, you'll tackle complex PPA challenges and drive improvements in automation and scripting.
Expect a stable career path backed by a solid package that includes pension contributions, wellness days, RSUs and performance-related bonuses.
What you'll do
You'll take charge of physical implementation, handling everything from floorplan to GDS for high-speed, complex designs with tight PPA targets.
This gives you the chance to shape how cutting-edge SOCs are built and optimised.
You'll also research and develop new methodologies, pushing physical design boundaries.
Creating scripts and flows that enhance performance, you'll influence how future designs are handled.
Collaboration is key, so you'll work with cross-functional teams to improve timing closure and power optimisation, ensuring designs meet the highest standards.
What you'll need
At least 4 years of experience in Physical Design.
Solid knowledge of the entire PD flow, from netlist to GDS, including floorplanning, power planning, placement, CTS, routing and optimisation.
Hands-on experience with physical design tools for advanced tech nodes (10nm and below).
Strong understanding of STA and timing closure methodologies, and their impact on congestion, routing and power.
Good grasp of power analysis and power integrity analysis.
Familiarity with physical verification and DRC closure.
About the company
A globally recognised semiconductor company, this position is based at their European HQ in Cork.
You'll be part of a team working on some of the most advanced physical design projects in the industry.
