Job Description:
Band / 2 Network Engineer
Knowledge of network devices such as switches, routers, wireless access points, preferably CISCO certified.
Understanding of assigning switch ports to specific VLANs.
Patch phone ports to switch as needed.
Troubleshoot Avaya VOIP phones (basic configuration).
Troubleshoot issues with fiber links between switches, visualize errors, and communicate with remote technical teams.
Replace network switch chassis blades when required.
Good to have understanding of any Data Center Infrastructure Management applications.
Perform periodic visual checks (minimum twice weekly) of IDF rooms for cooling and power status, specifically UPS alarms and PDU health.
Knowledge of Control-M, EMC Avamar, Data Domain.
Basic knowledge of monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
Networking and operating system basics.
Assist network and data center admins during technical troubleshooting.
Basic knowledge of hardware like servers and storage devices.
Ability to understand monitoring tool outcomes.
Basic knowledge of ITSM tools, preferably ServiceNow.
Basic knowledge of backup technologies, preferably EMC Avamar.
Basic knowledge of operating systems: Windows 2003 servers (Enterprise/Standard), UNIX, Linux.
Basic understanding of Windows 2003 Active Directory, MS Exchange 2003, and File/Print Servers.
Experience in SLA-based environments.
Knowledge of server performance monitoring is preferred.
Able to perform IMACD services (Install, Move, Add, Change, Dispose) for data center and network equipment.
Hands-on experience in large/medium enterprise data centers or hosting sites with servers, storage, and network devices.
Proficiency in local languages and English communication skills are mandatory.
